Welcome to the home of 'The Blueshirts' or the realm of plastic models made by a bunch o' fellas who enjoy modelling as well as a 'Palm' from time to time.

About us.

Who and what is the KMK?

What started out as a three-man-conversation in a corner of a well known pub in Herentals almost 30 years ago, has grown over the years to a flourishing, even international, modelling club in which all facets of modelling are practised.

This website shows you the result of our work.

Changing our name Verenigde Herentalse Modelbouwers VHM in the more appropriate KMK Kempense Modelbouw Klub was a logic step, not only because we gather and meet in Geel,
(region in the north of Belgium, in the provinces of Antwerp and Limburg). Notwithstanding though, we also have members from the coast and the Netherlands, the UK and Italy. In this hobby there are no boundaries :-)

The letter K of Klub is not only wrong in English, but also in Dutch. We took this “artistic liberty” to avoid KMC, a name that exists already.

Since January 1996, we meet every week on Friday evening in a big room above the ACW-house at the railway-station of Geel. The address is:

ACW-huis café
Stationsstraat 158
2440 Geel.

Here we have the necessary infrastructure and parking-space available.

In a good atmosphere, (later on the evening often in the bar), we discuss modelling, exchange experiences, techniques and information and examine and evaluate each other’s models. With this, we always keep the spirit positive:
no negative criticism but helping remarks and constructive ideas.

Everyone should be able to learn and grow in his hobby, and enjoy it at the same time! As mentioned before, all disciplines of modelling are welcome and practised, including aircraft, AFV’s, figures (sculpting and painting), diorama’s, ships, cars, science fiction, trains, … you name it.

As a club, we organise exhibitions, theme- and demonstration-evenings and even competitions. Each year we even organise a big convention: "Scale World". We also visit other shows and competitions, in Belgium but also often abroad
(England, Germany, Holland, France, Spain, USA,…)

For example, we visit the Euromilitaire and Trucks ‘n Tracks shows in Folkestone almost every year (we even have a club-stand at Euromilitaire!). Also the annual meeting and show of IPMS Beltring Kent is always on our agenda, and we often pass by the shows at the Telford museum and Saumur.
